Experience
Karuna has over 30 years of experience and has vast exposure as an advocate and in-house counsel in handling Contract Management and Industrial Relations & Employment related issues in pragmatic yet culturally astute manner.
Prior to joining Orbit Law Services, she was associated with Ispat Industries Ltd. (JSW Steels) as in-house counsel and was an advocate for SAIL, ICICI, HSCL, etc. where she was responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and providing end to end solutions to all industrial relation issues, labour issues and employment related issues including termination, removal and dismissal from employment. She has successfully conducted many complicated departmental enquiries right from the stage of suspension and show-cause notice.
She has extensive experience in drafting and reviewing of contracts/ documents viz. engagement of employees, contract labour, standard operating practices (SOPs) for contract labour management, departmental enquiry, drafting of standing orders, formation of service rules including drafting and vetting of various commercial contracts/MOU’s etc. Karuna is heading the employment practice at Orbit Law Services and she also specializes in HR matters including the matters relating to termination and appointment of foreign employees in India.
She has authored a book titled “Ready Reckoner on Departmental Proceedings” which has been highly appreciated and foreworded by the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India Justice R.C. Lahoti.
